The Athletics Division of the Parks and Recreation Department offers a full program throughout the year. Adult sports leagues, youth sports clinics, and athletic events highlight the schedule.

Athletic leagues play under the rules and regulations of the United States Softball 
Association (ASA) and the Texas Amateur Athletics Federation (TAAF). Soon to be governed by the USA Softball Association in 2018.

USA UMPIRE CLINIC

The City of McAllen Parks and Recreation offers an exciting training opportunity for USA slow pitch umpires. The clinic consists of a 4-hour classroom session, lunch, USA Certification Exam and 3-hour field session. This clinic is held once a year, but we gladly take in new umpires all year long. Please call the Parks office for additional information.

McALLEN OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT

Annual tournament includes men’s, women’s, and youth singles, doubles, and mixed doubles brackets.


Scott’s Pitch, Hit & Run – Youth Baseball Skills Challenge

This annual competition allows boys and girls ages 6 to 15 the opportunity to pitch, hit and run their way to an MLB playoff game.

McAllen to host Local tournament and Sectionals once a year in the Spring Season.
