The City of McAllen maintains numerous athletic facilities. These facilities are used by the Department and other organizations for programming and athletic competitions. And with the growing popularity of sports like soccer, new facilities to be located throughout the city are being developed by the Department in conjunction with local organizations.
Bicentennial Soccer Complex
- 2001 Fern Avenue
This soccer complex features six soccer fields: 2 adult fields and 4 youth fields. The facility also features bleachers and a concession stand. A permit is required for use of this facility.
Boys Club Athletic Field
- 617 S. 27th Street
This field, located behind the Boys & Girls Club, is used for football, soccer, and baseball/softball.

Cascade Park features a softball/baseball field which can be rented by contacting the Parks and Recreation Department.
McAllen Sports Park
3301 Buddy Owens Blvd.
The multi-use facility includes eight fields and one championship field which meets the needs of various sports including soccer, football, rugby and ultimate Frisbee as well as numerous community and special events including the annual McAllen Marathon. In addition to the fields, the park’s amenities include practice fields, lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, playground, water feature, concession area and restroom facilities. A permit is required for use of this facility.
Escandon Athletic Field

This facility features two baseball fields and bleachers.
McAllen High School Tennis Courts
- 2021 La Vista
These tennis courts are open to the public after school hours and close at 10:30 p.m. each night. There are sixteen lighted courts and windbreaks are provided.
Los Encinos Athletic Facility
- 2900 Sarah
Los Encinos Park is home to a wide array of athletic facilities including a lighted basketball pavilion, soccer, baseball, football, and softball fields, sand volleyball courts, and an exercise trail. You can also find playground equipment, covered picnic tables, bleachers, and a concession area.

The Stutzenbecker Baseball Complex at Municipal Park has four lighted Little League fields, for programs of the Boys and Girls Club. Bleachers and a concession area are also available.
Travis Tennis Courts
- 600 Houston Avenue
Four lighted tennis courts are available for play. No reservations are necessary.
Westside Practice Soccer Fields
- 1000 S. Ware Road
This facility features practice softball and soccer fields, bleachers, and covered picnic tables.
Westside Softball Complex
- 1000 S. Ware Road
Dedicated to the city in 1983, this softball complex is one-of-a-kind with computerized scoreboards. These four beautifully landscaped fields are used for league play and tournaments. Concessions and restrooms are available.
