4th of July Celebration Plans & Patriotic Program has moved to McAllen City Hall

The City of McAllen is proud to announce the lineup of its 86th Annual 4th of July Celebration.  This year the City of McAllen has moved the Patriotic Program to McAllen City Hall, 1300 Houston Ave. with bleachers for parade goers.  The city moved the program to capture the Patriotic Program live on the McAllen Cable Network on MCN 17.12 or web streamed on www.mcallen.net



The celebration will begin with the Patriotic Program and Parade at 7:45 a.m.  The Patriotic Program will feature the McAllen Town Band. The 4th of July parade starts at Houston and Broadway goes west on Houston and turns north on Main Street past Archer Park.  More than 100 entries will be in the parade are expected to participate in this year's event.  The parade will feature dignitaries, a number of floats, antique cars, and marching groups.  Last year, at estimated crowd of 20,000 people attended the parade.



Following the program and parade, a variety of activities will be available at Archer Park as well, including music, food and refreshment booths, games, and arts and crafts until 2:00 p.m.  Food and refreshment booths will also be available.  There will be a hot dog eating contest sponsored by Weinershnitzel too at Archer Park.



The evening activities of the 4th of July Celebration will also take place on Friday, July 4th, in Municipal Park.  The annual 4th of July “Concert in the Sky” will begin at 9:00 p.m. on Friday evening.  You can listen to a radio broadcast at KURV 710 AM and Jack 104.9 FM.   



The City of McAllen encourages everyone to attend the festivities as we celebrate America’s Independence and honor those who have protected our freedom.
