McAllen 311

McAllen- With an average of 399 calls per day, McAllen 311, the city’s customer service call center, has proven it is a necessity for McAllen residents.

The civic engagement tool allows residents to stay in touch with the City of McAllen. Through this easy-to-use service, residents have access to important City information and can report issues and track their requests online or via their mobile phones.

“The 311 tool is a great asset for providing vital services to our citizens,” said Mayor Darling.  “It is also a great way for our citizens to get and stay involved in making McAllen even better!”

“McAllen 311 helps take out the guesswork of who to call when you want to communicate with the City,” McAllen 311 Director Marco Tovias said. “Whether it's a question or a request for service, we can help you get the assistance you need.”

Residents with concerns in their community regarding noise, street flooding, or even those pesky mosquitoes can submit those issues and images via their smartphones or online at mcallen.net/mcallen311, or for those who still like to speak to a live person, by simply calling 681-3111.

Concerns submitted through smart-phones are automatically geo-tagged. The relevant City staff members receive this information and resolve the problem quickly and efficiently.

Users are able to add comments to further describe the concern they have reported. Residents can easily track their requests, support other requests and receive status updates via push notifications from the City. With PublicStuff, an innovative CRM software company, the City is able to manage and improve the efficiency in which they respond to resident concerns.

The app also supports multiple languages through the One Voice – Instant Translation feature, enabling all McAllen residents who don’t speak English the ability to access City services and submit requests in their native language automatically from their smartphones.

McAllen 311 is a free app and is available in the Apple and Google app stores for immediate use.

“Our intent is to keep our busy citizens from having to memorize numbers or keep track of a list of departments and phone numbers – all they have to do is call 681-3111,” said Assistant City Manager Jeff Johnston. “If the call-takers can’t resolve their issue, they’ll transfer them right where they need to go.”

McAllen 311 is also supported via the McAllen 311 Information Center.  Residents can speak to City of McAllen staff by calling (956) 681-3111, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
