The United States Constitution requires that a census of America’s population be taken every ten years as mandated by Article I, Section 2.
The goal of the 2020 Census is to ensure that every resident in the United States is counted. The U.S. Constitution mandates an apportionment of representatives among the states for the House of Representatives every 10 years. CENSUS DAY is September 30, 2020.
The data collected by the decennial census is used to distribute billions in federal funds to local communities.
By law, the U.S. Census Bureau must deliver a report of population counts to the President of the United States on or before December 31, 2020.

To prepare for the upcoming Census, the City Commission has appointed a 16-member Complete Count Committee to increase awareness and motivate residents to respond to the 2020 Census. The Census Committee consists of community members in government, business, education, religion, community based organizations, and media to coordinate the 2020 Census count on September 30, 2020.
The committee has been working alongside the U.S. Census Bureau since March 7, 2018. Their role is to plan and implement local outreach efforts to publicize the importance of the 2020 Census and have been developing a strategy to ensure that all residents are counted.
