The 5th Annual “A Vibrant Heritage” Mexican Artisan Expo will host more over 100 artisans from various Mexican States. The McAllen Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate in McAllen, will host this event from January 8 through 12, 2014.  The first two days, the artisan expo will be part of the McAllen International Travel Show on January 8 &9. The Travel Show usually draws thousands of visitors throughout the two-day event where exhibitors from U.S.A. and Mexico attend to promote their cities or locations as a visitor’s destination.  On days 3, 4 and 5, the artisans will showcase their products January 10, 11 & 12 at the McAllen Creative Incubator located in the 601 N. Main, previously old McAllen Library.  Here, the event will add in addition to the beautiful arts from Mexico, Mexican live entertainment from la Voz del Valle, Mariachi Bands, Eliseo Robles, la Líder  and delicious Mexican food.

Among the arts and crafts that will be on sale by the artisans during the show will be textiles, pottery, decor, and jewelry, clothing and leather products. Also, artisans will bring delicious candies, salsas and sweet bread among many other offerings.  Artisans come from 12 Mexican States such as Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Oaxaca, Jalisco, Estado de Mexico, Puebla, Chiapas, Coahuila, Veracruz and Michoacan among others.
 

Access to the event will be free to the public so that everyone can enjoy the rich culture and arts that are a part of the history our area shares with Mexico. The schedule for this event is as follows: January 8 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM and January 9 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Travel Show; January 10, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM; January 11, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the McAllen Creative Incubator.
                 

“A Vibrant Heritage” Mexican Arts Expo is visited every year by local families and winter Texans and it’s an excellent opportunity to promote local businesses to the attending crowd.
