The City of McAllen Fire Department will host an international firefighter conference this week. Firefighters from several countries will learn techniques to safely battle a blaze from experienced McAllen firefighters, in conjunction with the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’ Association of Texas and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.   

The countries that sent firefighters to represent them are Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador and Dominican Republic.

Thursday, January 16^th and Friday, January 17^th, the firefighters will participate in a number of classroom sessions. They will also take part in hands on training courses. The specialized drills include vehicle extrication and a survival obstacle course. 

The McAllen Fire Department is committed to maintaining a highly skilled and trained department to meet the needs of our community and firefighter personnel.
