The IMAS Board of Trustees is honored to announce the
return of Mexico artist Sebastian to the International Museum of Art & Science. Sebastian will
present the catalog for the exhibit “Quanitcs: The Art & Science of Sebastian” on Tuesday,
January 27th from 5 to 7 p.m.
The catalog, published by IMAS, features sculptures inspired by the work of nanotechnology
researcher Dr. Miguel Jose Yacaman, and his work at UTSA with one of the world’s largest
electron microscopes known as “Helenita”.
Sebastian is known world-wide for his monumental sculptures, incorporating geometry into steel
pieces of art. One such piece, La Antorcha de la Amistad (“The Torch of Friendship”), stands tall
in the center of downtown San Antonio.
Sebastian’s pieces can also be seen throughout the City of McAllen for a limited time. Pieces
are on display at McAllen City Hall; Quinta Mazatlan; the McAllen Public Library; the McAllen
Convention Center; McAllen-Miller International Airport; McAllen Chamber of Commerce; and
the Creative Incubator.
