McALLEN – The McAllen Fire Department in partnership with the McAllen Police Department held a moment of silence in remembrance of the victims of the September 11, 2001 tragedy on the 14th anniversary of the attack.
The ceremony was held at the McAllen Central Fire Station.A moment of silence took place followed by a “last alarm” bell ceremony at 8:46 a.m.
After the event, employees of H-E-B took a little time out of their week to honor the first responders through the company-wide volunteer program, “Helping Heroes.” Employees prepared breakfast and lunch for the firefighters and helped with around-the-station chores.
