McALLEN, TX – A temporary TSA Pre✓® application center will be open at McAllen International Airport (MFE) from Tuesday, April 16 – Thursday, April 18.
“We’re pleased to offer this enrollment opportunity to those who live in or around McAllen,” said TSA Federal Security Director Jess Presas. “Travelers can pre-enroll online at www.tsa.gov and make an appointment at the McAllen International Airport enrollment center to complete the application process.” Walk-ins also are accepted on a space-available basis.
The temporary application center at McAllen International Airport, will be open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm each day. The application center is located near the Rental Car Counters on the east side of the airport terminal near the baggage claim area. Applicants may call 956-681-1526 for additional information.
Travelers who are enrolled in TSA Pre✓® or another trusted traveler program such as Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS are permitted to keep on their shoes, belts and light outerwear jacket, and can leave their laptops and liquid 3-1-1 bags inside their carry-on bags when transiting the checkpoint. “We encourage our business community and frequent travelers to take advantage of this program to expedite their security screening,” said City Manager, Roel “Roy” Rodriguez, P.E. “We thank TSA for affording our community an opportunity to enroll in this program at our local airport.”
The application fee is $85, which covers a five-year membership. The fee must be paid at the application center by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Enrollees will need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship or legal residency status. Fingerprints are collected to complete a background check.
Successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN), which they can access online in about a week. Passengers should enter the KTN when booking airline reservations online via a participating airline website, via phone call to the airline reservation center, or with the travel management company making reservations.
