Palm Valley Animal Society, City of Mission, Hidalgo County, and other municipalities and organizations helped to rescue dogs
Earlier today, Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 9:36 a.m., the McAllen Police Department received a report of an odor at the 3400 block of Ozark Ave. McAllen police officers requested McAllen Fire Department and ambulance services at the scene for assistance.
Upon further investigation, first responders determined that an overwhelming number of dogs were inside the residence. McAllen Animal Care Services responded to the scene to assist. As of press time, 93 dogs and 1 cat were discovered inside the residence.
The McAllen Police Department currently has two individuals in custody in relation to this case.
All of these animals are in the process of being relocated to the Palm Valley Animal Society. Additionally, through a unified effort between the City of McAllen, the City of Mission, Hidalgo County, and various other cities and shelters, the animals will be cared for pending disposition of the case.
The City of McAllen thanks all of its partner organizations, neighboring cities and volunteers for assisting in this matter and helping to care for the animals.
