Animals taken to Palm Valley Animal Society, other shelters for care

Earlier today, April 4, 2024, the McAllen Police Department responded to reports of animal cruelty at the 300 block of Fern Ave.   Responding officers requested assistance at the scene from various City of McAllen departments, including Animal Care Services.

Upon further investigation, responding McAllen personnel determined that numerous animals, including dogs, cats and birds were inside the residence. The McAllen Police Department currently has one individual in custody and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.

The animals are in the process of being relocated to the Palm Valley Animal Society and other animal shelters where they will be cared for pending disposition of this matter.
