City of McAllen, Palm Valley Animal Society to Host Free Microchip Clinic

by Office of Communications | Apr 25, 2024

Drive-thru clinic open to McAllen residents for cats and dogs, must bring proof of residency

The City of McAllen, in partnership with Palm Valley Animal Society, will host a free, drive-thru microchip clinic for McAllen residents and their pets, on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the McAllen City Hall parking lot, located at 1300 W. Houston Ave., from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or until chips last.  Attendees must bring proof of residency, such as a utility bill and driver’s license.  Pets must be at least six weeks old.

“This is a great opportunity to help our community in the event their pet is ever lost,” said Nancy Treviño, director of McAllen Environmental Health & Code Enforcement.  “By becoming responsible pet owners, these microchips will help identify their pets and prevent them from being sent to Palm Valley Animal Society, reducing the number of lost pets at the animal shelter.”

Additionally, while supplies last, free dog and cat food, preventatives and pet bedding will be given away.
