McAllen Public Library is excited to announce the Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff Party, taking place at the Main Library, 4001 N. 23rd St., from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Families are invited to join the fun-filled event, featuring a variety of activities for all children and teens.

Attendees can look forward to free popcorn, raffles for kids and teens, giveaways, and engaging activities provided by community partners. There will also be face painting, crafts, games, and a special appearance by popular characters Bluey and Bingo.

This year's Summer Reading Challenge theme is "Adventure Begins at Your Library!" Open to all ages, from kids to adults, participants can register to earn prizes for reading and enjoy engaging events and programs. Those who complete the program will be invited to a Finale Party to celebrate their reading accomplishments. The Summer Reading Challenge runs from June 1 to July 13, and all activities are free to the public.

"The Summer Reading Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for families to bond over books and embark on exciting adventures through reading," said Amanda Ramirez, Children's Department Supervisor. "We're thrilled to offer a diverse range of activities that not only encourage literacy but also bring our community together in a fun and engaging way."
