City of McAllen Vision Zero Draft Plan Available for Public Review

City staff seeking public input to have a strong Vision Zero Plan that will save lives

The City of McAllen is inviting its residents, community advocates and stakeholders to actively participate once again in helping McAllen improve roadways safety, this time through the review of the draft Vision Zero plan. Community input is crucial in shaping the success of this transformative initiative.

Vision Zero is an innovative plan, rooted in the belief that no loss of life or serious injuries is acceptable on McAllen’s transportation system. It represents a pivotal step forward in McAllen's commitment to public safety and the well-being of its residents.

The draft plan will be available for public review from July 15 through July 31, 2024, at https://www.mcallen.net/vision-zero or at the locations below:
1. Lark Community Center, 2601 Lark Ave
2. McAllen Public Library, 4001 N. 23rd St.
3. Las Palmas Community Center, 1921 N. 25th St.
4. McAllen Development Center, 311 N. 15th St.
5. Palmview Community Center, 3401 Jordan Rd. W

The final draft of the Vision Zero plan is planned to be adopted at the August 26, 2024 McAllen City Commission meeting. Additional questions or comments can be submitted to the Traffic Operations Department at traffic@mcallen.net or at (956) 681-2715.
