Vietnam War
173rd Airborne Brigade (SEP) Vietnam Wall
The “Sky Soldiers” of the 173d Airborne Brigade (SEP) honor their 78 comrades from the State of Texas killed during six years
and two months of almost continuous combat (15 May 1965 – 25 August 1971). A total of 1,790 “Sky Soldiers” were killed and
8,500 wounded in battle in Vietnam. The combat time of the brigade is longer than that on any U.S. Army unit since the Revolutionary
War (1775-1783). The brigade was awarded 14 Campaign Ribbons and 4 Unit Citations (2 U.S. – 2 Vietnamese). Thirteen men
were awarded the Medal of Honor. This medal is the highest honor that can be awarded to a U.S. soldier for extraordinary
courage and valor in combat. Thousands of other medals and citations for bravery on the battlefield were awarded to the
“Sky Soldiers” during this extended battle period.
Let it be known for all of time, we the living, honor our brothers killed in battle.
