Legal Department

The City Attorney’s Office advises the Mayor, City Commission, McAllen Public Utility Board of Trustees, City Administration, City Advisory Boards and Employees in all areas of the law. The City Attorney handles legal issues relating to preparation/review of all documents in which the City may have an interest: ordinances, resolutions, contracts, code enforcement, zoning, legislation, real estate, labor and employment, water, franchises, tax suits, bankruptcies, civil service, law enforcement, open records, and financial matters.
