Great American Cleanup to benefit community

by Public Information Office | Apr 08, 2015

McALLEN Each year, McAllen’s Great American Cleanup draws hundreds of volunteers and participants to bag tons of trash and create a positive change and a lasting impact in our community.

On Saturday, April 11th, volunteers will gather at Municipal Park located at 1921 N. Bicentennial from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for the event hosted by Keep McAllen Beautiful (KMB).

Volunteers will be issued safety vests, gloves, and trash bags and then assigned a designated area to pick up litter along city streets, trails, and parks.

KMB has partnered with H-E-B to provide hot dogs, sodas, and various raffle prizes at the park after the cleanup.

“This is a great opportunity to show civic pride by coming out to volunteer in the community we all love. We invite all schools, civic groups, churches, organizations, as well as families who want to give of their time to volunteer in celebration of Earth Day”, said Chris Lash, KMB Program Coordinator.

Send us your photos or short videos via Facebook, Instagram or Vine of the event and hashtag them #KMBGAC for a chance to win several prizes.
