McAllen Public Library is excited to announce the return of its highly anticipated World Languages Festival, set to take place at the Main Library, 4001 N. 23rd St., on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This celebrated international event promises a rich tapestry of cultural experiences, offering attendees a taste of global diversity through storytelling, food, art, music, and performances.

The award-winning festival, now in its fourth year, has earned recognition for its dynamic celebration of global cultures. Attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup of activities, including collaborations with community partners; food and market vendors; an interactive art display; cultural dances by the Akshaya Dance Academy and Thigpen-Zavala Folkorico Group; French storytelling by Regine Pellicer from UTRGV’s Department of Writing & Language Studies; master storytelling sessions by Kim Lehman featuring Stories and Songs from Around the World; and Korean percussion performances by Dr. Oh-Villarreal from UTRGV’s Asian Studies Department.

“This festival celebrates the richness of our World Languages Collection, which includes materials in Korean, Tagalog, and Hindi, in addition to English and Spanish,” said Kate Horan, Library Director. “It's an opportunity for our community to come together, celebrate diversity, and explore the beauty of different cultures through engaging and immersive experiences.”

The World Languages Festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration of global heritage and unity. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
