The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in cooperation with Hidalgo County Precinct #4 and the City of McAllen will hold a PUBLIC MEETING to discuss the proposed widening of FM 2220 (Ware Rd.) from Auburn Avenue (Mile 5) south to Buddy Owens Blvd. (Mile 3) in Hidalgo County, Texas. The meeting details are as follows:
Wednesday, October 30, 2013
Michael E. Fossum Middle School
7800 N. Ware Rd
McAllen, Texas
Exhibit Viewing Period: 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Presentation: 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to allow the public the opportunity to view the project schematic and provide comments on the proposed widening of FM 2220 (Ware Rd.) from Auburn Ave. (Mile 5) south to Buddy Owens Blvd. (Mile 3); a distance of 2.0 miles. The proposed project would involve reconstructing and widening the existing two lane rural roadway that is currently within an 80-foot wide right-of-way (ROW), to a six-lane urban roadway within a proposed 120-foot wide ROW. The proposed project would consist of six 11½-foot wide travel lanes, two 8-foot wide shoulders, one 14-foot wide raised median with curb and gutter for drainage and 5-foot wide sidewalks along both sides of the roadway. Additional project elements include proposed right turn lanes at major intersections and proposed drainage outfall locations.
The proposed project would require approximately 5.1 acres of additional roadway ROW. It is anticipated that the proposed project would require one business and two residential relocations. Relocation Assistance is available for those displaced through TxDOT’s relocation assistance program. The relocation process would be conducted according to the Title II and Title III of the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970. Information about the benefits, services and Right of Way Acquisition schedule can be obtained at the district office, located at 600 W. U.S. 83, Pharr Texas.
Location maps and other information concerning this project will be available at the public meeting. All interested citizens are invited to attend this meeting to provide input regarding the proposed project. Verbal and/or written comments may be presented at the public meeting. Written comments may be submitted up to 10 days after the public meeting, on or prior to Saturday November 9, 2013 to TxDOT, Attn: Pharr District Engineer, located at P.O.
