The City of McAllen Fire Department will host an international firefighter conference this week. Firefighters from several countries will learn techniques to safely battle a blaze from experienced McAllen firefighters, in conjunction with the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’ Association of Texas and the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service.
The countries that sent firefighters to represent them are Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, Chile, Brazil, Ecuador and Dominican Republic.
Thursday, January 16th and Friday, January 17th, the firefighters will participate in a number of classroom sessions. They will also take part in hands on training courses. The specialized drills include vehicle extrication and a survival obstacle course.
The McAllen Fire Department is committed to maintaining a highly skilled and trained department to meet the needs of our community and firefighter personnel.
