Bicentennial to be reduced to one lane in each direction

by Public Information Office | Aug 05, 2015

McALLEN –
Motorists are asked to exercise extra caution while driving down Bicentennial as work begins on the sewer system.

Crews will reduce Bicentennial Blvd. to two lanes from La Vista to Harvey Ave.  from Thursday, August 6 thru Wednesday August 12 to replace an existing line to make the sewer system more efficient.

“We would like to thank the citizens of McAllen for their cooperation with the temporary Bicentennial Blvd. road restriction,” said Public Utility General Manager Mark Vega.   “Ensuring our citizens safety goes hand in hand with our dedication to providing the highest water and wastewater services.  We will work to make the inconvenience as quick as possible.”

Drivers are advised to use an alternate route to travel north or south of Bicentennial from Harvey to La Vista.  There will be a traffic detour to ease the congestion, but it’s better to avoid the area.
