(McAllen, TX.) City of McAllen officials along with Tres Lagos developer Mike Rhodes and his family broke ground today on their 2,571-acre master planned community.
Located in northern McAllen, Texas, Tres Lagos will develop 5,000 Single Family Homes, 1,000 Townhomes, 2,000 Multi-family apartments. In addition to the new home construction, Tres Lagos will also feature a multi million-dollar community center featuring swimming and fitness facilities, sports courts, soccer fields and over 100 acres of lakes to enjoy paddleboats, swimming and fishing.
“This is going to be a community that McAllen and South Texas have long deserved, and desired;” Mike Rhodes stated.
In the heart of the Tres Lagos development, there will be an Island Town Center featuring a variety of great restaurants and shops. Additionally, throughout the project there will be over 1.5 million square-feet of commercial and retail space.
“This is an exciting day for the McAllen community. The City of McAllen has been working diligently with Mike Rhodes on his development. It will add thousands of beautiful new homes, apartments and retail and some great amenities for the residents,” McAllen Mayor James Darling said. “But what’s most important is that it will serve as the new home for the Texas A&M- McAllen campus.”
Among the unique amenities Tres Lagos will offer its residents; fiber to the home offering Gigabit speed Internet, Smart Home technology and monitored security to every home. Community surveillance cameras throughout the expansive development monitored by the McAllen Police Department.
The Tres Lagos development will also boast over 20 miles of hike and bike trails and indoor/outdoor fitness centers. With over 200 acres of parks including sport fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, lighted tennis & basketball courts and amphitheatre, Tres Lagos will be a community within itself.
There are planned sites for all levels of schools, including IDEA Tres Lagos for grades K-12 opening in August of 2017.
The highly anticipated Texas A&M McAllen Campus is scheduled to open in the fall of 2017.
