In exactly one month, McAllen will see thousands of runners take to the streets for the McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Run, taking place on Saturday, January 20, 2024.  All races, including the marathon, half-marathon, relay marathon, 10K, 5K and Kids Final Mile will be held that day, starting from the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd, with runs starting at 7:00 a.m.

Anyone wanting to participate in this Boston Marathon qualifier should register online now and up until January 19, 2024, here at Marathon/Half/Relay5K/10K or by visiting www.mcallenmarathon.com.  Registration for each race is: $120 for the full marathon; $100 for the half-marathon; $330 for the relay marathon; $45 for the 10K and $35 for the 5K run.  Aside from receiving a participant shirt, finisher medal and swag bag, participants will receive the great feeling that comes from running in this exciting marathon, with a course described as flat and fast, perfect for a tropical run in January.

Since its inaugural run in 2013, the City of McAllen has built on its promise to provide high quality service and quality of life to all who live, work and visit the City of McAllen by improving and listening to feedback related to the event. Marathon organizers once again hope to draw the attention of more than 17 states, three countries and over 10,000 spectators and participants during race weekend.

Along with placing an emphasis on health and wellness, spectators and participants will have the opportunity to visit the McAllen Marathon Health & Wellness Expo on Friday, January 19, where runners will also be able to pick-up their bag and race packet, all taking place at the McAllen Convention Center Exhibit Hall, from 3:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m.

Sponsors of the event include: Rio Grande Regional Hospital; H-E-B; L&F Distributors; Sames Automotive Group; University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; McAllen International Airport; Moveo Performance and KRGV-Ch. 5 News.

Anyone who would like to get started to participate in any of the races, should just get up and get started.  Don’t worry about trying to get to the finish line; make a plan that gets to the starting line.  Whether it’s a run-walk training regime, running every day or incorporating cross-training, just get out there.  The best part is all one needs is a great pair of running shoes. Take advantage of over 30 miles of hike and bike trails throughout McAllen to just start running to get ready for the McAllen Marathon Scott Crane Run.
