McAllen, TX - McAllen International Airport has partnered with Volaris, the Mexican ultra low-cost airline that operates in Mexico, United States, Central and South America to announce its newest nonstop route to Cancun, Mexico. Already on sale, this new partnership will connect two key destinations for tourism and business starting on July 3rd with two weekly departures (Wednesday and Saturdays). “McAllen’s newest partnership with Volaris to launch air service to a world class destination like Cancun reinforces our commitment to develop strong economic ties with Mexico and beyond. We value these strong partnerships and will continue to make key investments in the McAllen International Airport to foster new travel opportunities for our entire region.” said Javier Villalobos, McAllen Mayor.
As one of the top ten busiest airports in Texas, McAllen International Airport's commercial airline traffic has led the region in 2023 with 45% of the RGV’s commercial air service market share. It is also the only airport in the region to provide year-round international air service to top destinations like Cancun.
