McAllen Public Library (MPL) is excited to launch its ninth annual Amnesty Month, offering patrons the opportunity to return overdue library materials without incurring fines. From April 1,2024 to May 4, 2024, MPL will run a month-long initiative aimed at reclaiming overdue books, CDs, DVDs, and blu-rays.

During Amnesty Month, patrons can return any overdue item to any of MPL's three locations – Main (4001 N. 23rd St.); Lark (2601 Lark Ave.); or Palmview (3401 Jordan Rd. W) – regardless of how long it has been overdue, and have fines removed from their account. This initiative applies exclusively to currently checked out items. During this time, families can enjoy fun Star Wars themed photo opportunities throughout the month of April. Additionally, join the McAllen Public Library on Saturday, May 4, 2024 for family-friendly activities and take pictures with favorite Star Wars characters.

Kate Horan, Library Director, shared her insights on the initiative, stating, "Amnesty Month serves a dual purpose: encouraging the return of overdue items to our shelves while also welcoming back patrons who may have stayed away due to fines."

Don't miss this opportunity to clear library accounts and rediscover the wealth of resources available at MPL. For more information, please contact the Circulation Department at (956) 681-3020.
