Lane closures, pause in traffic as runners make their way throughout course
McAllen, TX - April 30, 2024 – The City of McAllen is preparing for the 2024 MXLAN Neon Nights 5K, sponsored by Rio Grande Regional Hospital. The 5K run will start at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd, beginning at 8:30 p.m. In order to ensure a safe and fast course for the runners, lane closures and reductions will be in place throughout the course, until the last runner crosses the finish line. Motorists are encouraged to allow additional travel time or to find alternate routes to avoid congestion in the area.
The following will be hard closures between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 10:00p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024:
- Business 83 from Ware Road to 29th St.
- 29th St. from Ithaca Ave. to Business 83
The race will start promptly at 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of South 33rd Street and Houston Avenue. For a complete look at the courses for the various races, visit: mcallenmarathon.com.
