Support Services Division
The Support Services Division of the McAllen Police Department is responsible for the investigation of property crimes, the accountability of evidence, crime prevention programs, and animal control services. In order to maximize efficiency and service to our citizens, the Support Services Division is comprised of several units, each with specific duties and responsibilities. Evidence Unit
The Evidence Unit is responsible for the processing, storage and disposal of evidence and other items. It is also responsible for the production of evidence for prosecution of cases. Community Affairs Unit

The Office of Community Affairs handles requests for crime prevention events and Honor Guard events. One of our annual programs is the Citizen Police Academy. This is a 10 week long program designed to give citizens a better understanding of the McAllen Police Department. For details on this program, click on the link for "Citizen Police Academy" . -Animal Control Office
The Animal Control Office is tasked with providing animal control services for McAllen residents. This office is responsible for the enforcement of city ordinances and state laws related to animals. Animal Control Wardens are on duty seven days a week, (including holidays). The link for “Animal Control” contains details on work hours as well as some common city ordinances.
