In 2009, the City of McAllen developed a drainage policy on how to move forward with drainage projects for the benefit of McAllen,
Hidalgo County and surrounding cities. Moreover, the neighboring cities of Edinburg, Mission and Pharr recognized how strong and
well-developed the drainage policy was for developing projects to address drainage issues and each city adopted the McAllen drainage
policy, to mirror the policy and practice of developing drainage projects that complement the neighboring drainage project and
community. For the past year, the four cities have been working in partnership to move forward with this regional approach to
cooperative drainage improvement. At this meeting, neighboring communities in Hidalgo County, including Palmview, Palmhurst, Alamo,
and Mercedes will be present to learn more about the drainage policies and projects that would benefit the entire region.
