McAllen once again received recognition for something many in the community already know: ranking sixth Safest Cities in the United States by SmartAsset.com. In McAllen crime decrease continued as the city moved up three spots from 2021, when it was ranked #9.

In addition, at approximately $15 million in approved grant funds, 2022 is the City of McAllen Police Department’s most successful year for approved grant applications.
