MPU Municipal Excellence Award

At the 2024 Texas Municipal League (TML) Annual Conference in Houston, the City of McAllen received the Municipal Excellence Award in public works for cities with populations over 25,000. The award recognized McAllen’s expansion of its water reuse system to serve a 2,600-acre community and sports complex in North McAllen. This project provides a drought-proof, non-potable water source, including new facilities, a pipeline system, and advanced metering, ensuring long-term water security and lower costs.
