Community Development Block Grant:
The Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 allows local governments with populations over 50,000 to receive funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for neighborhood improvements and city services. To access funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Program, the City must submit an application outlining the fund usage. In 2023, the City submitted a 5-Year Consolidated Plan to assess and forecast community needs. The City must also comply with federal laws on civil rights, wages, environmental review, and fair housing. Funded activities must meet at least three national objectives: benefiting low- and moderate-income individuals, eliminating slums or blight, and addressing urgent needs.
