The McAllen Works department has entered into multiple partnerships to enhance recycling efforts to improve and preserve McAllen’s local beauty.

O-I and McAllen recently formed a partnership in which the city will send the glass it collects to O-I’s Monterrey plant. This partnership has brought more attention to glass recycling in McAllen, with residents recycling more as a result. Numbers have increased in the amount of glass being recycled by 712% from FY 2023: 286.9 tons, compared to FY 2021: 40.28 tons.
